Interested to know what type of outdoor protection is being used for switch decoders, feed back modules, etc. Looking for innovative ideas that would provide protection year round ? I have had good luck with small aluminum electric work boxes with cable glands installed. My concern is heat buildup, even though I have not seemed to have a problem with this yet.

Thanks, Mike

We have 4 LGB Switch Decoders and I find that if I mount them inside small airtight food boxes (to keep out moisture) one for each decoder and for convenience hide them in removeable buildings on top of the layout I do not have any problems from solar heat build up. From time to time I check them and have never found them to actually overheat inside the boxes. I fitted them over 6 months ago without any problems.
It is suggested that you keep the wires as short as possible but some of mine are over 10 metres apart so to avoid voltage drop I use mains cable, again no problems and the switches change every time.
